Last updated: August 2026. Applies to the Virtuino 6 app for Android
(package com.virtuino_automations.virtuino).
Virtuino 6 is a local-first HMI/dashboard app for connecting to and controlling your own IoT devices. It is developed and operated by the Virtuino team. This policy explains what data the app collects, stores and transmits, and why.
Everything you build in the app — projects, panels, widgets, server and connection settings, variables, images, sounds and logged chart data — is stored locally on your device, in a local database and local files. This data is not uploaded to any Virtuino server. It stays on your device unless you explicitly export, share or back it up yourself. Uninstalling the app permanently deletes this data.
The app lets you connect to IoT devices and services of your own choosing, over WiFi/Ethernet, Bluetooth, Modbus TCP, MQTT, HTTP and the ThingSpeak API. Any server addresses, IP addresses, credentials, topics or Bluetooth devices you enter are used only to establish these connections directly from your device to the endpoint you specified — they are not routed through or stored on any Virtuino server, except where noted below.
If you choose to configure a connection to Virtuino Cloud (cloud.virtuino.com), the account key and MQTT password you enter are sent directly to Virtuino Cloud's servers to authenticate that connection, the same as any other MQTT broker you might configure. Virtuino Cloud's own handling of that account and data is described in its separate Virtuino Cloud Privacy Policy. This app does not use your Virtuino Cloud credentials for anything other than establishing the connections you configure.
The full (Pro) version can be unlocked in two ways.
Google Play purchase. The purchase is processed by Google Play Billing. We never see or store your payment details; the app only receives from Google whether the product has been purchased.
Product ID activation. If you activate with a Product ID bought outside Google Play, the app sends your Product ID, the e-mail address you enter, and your device's Android ID to our activation server at virtuino.com. This is used solely to verify the licence and to count how many devices it has been activated on (a Product ID is valid for a limited number of devices). We do not use this e-mail address for marketing.
Offline activation. Some activation codes can be verified entirely on the device with no network connection. In that case the e-mail address you enter is stored only locally, so that the app can display which licence it is running under.
If you set up e-mail alerts, the app sends messages using the mail account and SMTP credentials that you provide. Those credentials are stored locally on your device and the messages are sent directly from your device to that mail provider. They do not pass through any Virtuino server, and we have no access to them or to the messages you send.
| Permission | Why it's needed |
|---|---|
| Internet, network & WiFi state | Connect to the WiFi/Ethernet, Modbus, MQTT, HTTP and ThingSpeak endpoints you configure, and detect whether a network is available. |
| Local network devices | Required from Android 17 onwards to reach devices on your own WiFi, such as an Arduino, ESP or Modbus controller. Without it those connections fail. |
| Bluetooth (scan, connect, advertise) | Find and connect to Bluetooth and BLE devices when you add a Bluetooth connection. |
| Location (coarse & fine) | Required by Android in order to scan for nearby Bluetooth/BLE devices. The app does not track, record or transmit your location. |
| Keep device awake | Keep connections and timers running while a panel is open. |
| Foreground service | Keep your configured device connections active while the app is in the background, so you don't miss live data. |
| Receive boot completed | Optionally relaunch the app after your device restarts, only if you have enabled auto-start in the app's settings. |
| Install/uninstall shortcut | Create a home-screen shortcut to a panel, only when you ask for one. |
| Billing | Purchase the Pro version through Google Play. |
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties. We do not use advertising networks or analytics/tracking SDKs in this app. Network traffic only goes to the endpoints you yourself configure (your own devices, MQTT broker, Modbus device, HTTP server, ThingSpeak, mail provider, or Virtuino Cloud), plus Google Play for billing and our own activation server if you activate with a Product ID.
Local project data is retained on your device for as long as you keep the app installed, and is deleted when you uninstall it or clear the app's data. You are responsible for backing up your own projects if you want to keep them. Licence records held on our activation server (Product ID, e-mail address and the list of activated device IDs) are kept for as long as the licence is valid; write to us if you want them deleted, keeping in mind that this also deactivates the licence.
Virtuino 6 is a technical tool for configuring IoT devices and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
